Ryuk (リューク, Ryūku) is a Shinigami from the Death Note series. He, along with Light Yagami are unplayable.

Role in Story

Ryuk appears from the ceiling above Light Yagami. This is while Light is introducing himself to The Created Character. Light tells the Created Character he's just an ordinary human. Ryuk looks at the Created Character while they look back at him. They stare into Ryuk's eyes. He flies closer to them and pushes his face close to theirs. They both stare at each other, directly in the eyes. Ryuk says that this is interesting. He flies back behind Light and tells him the Created Character can see him. Ryuk says to him that this is the first time he's met anyone who could see a Shinigami without touching a Death Note. Light tells the Created Character he'd better get going and says he'll see them later. As he's walking away, Ryuk asks him if he's going to do anything about the Created Character being able to see him. He asks if Light will just leave them be. Light whispers to him, saying yes, that for now, he'll leave them be.

Ryuk is seen in Team Alpha's headquarters, floating next to Light while he talks to Son Goku. Light is being welcomed by Goku. He states that Director Glover told him that Goku is incredibly strong. Ryuk then asks Light if Goku actually is that strong. Light looks over at him without saying anything. Goku asks Light what's up. He tells Goku that it's nothing and that there's something he'd like to ask him. Goku asks Light what it is. Light comments on an amazing treasure that exists in Goku's world. He explains that he heard it can grant any wish whatsoever. Goku explains to Light how it works. Ryuk then asks Light if something that magical actually exists. Light responds back to him in his mind and says that's rich coming from Ryuk. Light then further questions Goku about the treasure. Goku asks him if he has a wish he wants granted too. Ryuk asks Light who wouldn't want something that can grant any wish you might have. Ryuk says to him that he bets Light can't wait to get his Death Note back.
