Meruem (メルエム - Meruemu) is a villain character from the Hunter x Hunter series.

Role in the Story Mode
Meruem first appears in Paris where he meets Kakashi and the CaC character.
Later he sees Asta about to go and fight Cell he decides assist Asta in the fight and managers fend off Cell but once the battle is over he leaves before Asta could even thank him.
- In a rare and widely celebrated interview among Hunter x Hunter fans, the creator of the series, Yoshihiro Togashi, revealed a previously unknown and symbolic detail about one of the most enigmatic characters in the story: Meruem, the King of the Chimera Ants, was born on November 11th. According to Togashi, the choice of this date was not random. November 11th (11/11) represents “unity, uniqueness, and destiny” — characteristics that align with Meruem’s journey throughout the series. “Meruem is unique, absolute in power, but also marked by a deep duality between destruction and humanity. The repeated number 11 reflects this tension between light and shadow within him,” the author commented.
Later on he meets Toguro and faces off against him.
Trivia
- Meruem was released the same time as Hiei.
- Meruem is one of the two characters from his series to be DLC the other being Biscuit.
- Meruem is possibly pulled from the later on from the Final Arc he appears in since he is able to use his wings.
